The Mendocino Piano Quartet
Violist Paul Yarbrough, co-founder and violist emeritus of the Alexander String Quartet, continues to perform as a soloist in recitals and with orchestras. While a member of the ASQ, he performed more than 2,500 concerts on 5 continents and made numerous recordings.
Jeff Ives is the principal violist for the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra and Symphony of the Redwoods. He is also an accomplished composer and teacher, and his pieces are performed
Joel Cohen is a Grammy-nominated cellist with a passion for unique, genre-bending music. He has played with orchestras in California, Ontario (Canada), Vienna, and Boston; and has performed chamber music locally and throughout the world.
Ben Rueb has been a piano teacher for more than twenty years and is passionate about teaching classical music to younger generations. Recent performances include the Professional Pianists Concert in Ukiah, and an appearance with the Ukiah Symphony orchestra.
Spencer Brewer and Ben Rueb, piano
Spencer Brewer is a pianist, composer, and producer known for his stylistically cross-pollinated classical, jazz, and romantically influenced instrumental albums. He has traveled the world playing music and creating assemblage art for many years.
Ben Rueb (listed above) will play a solo piano set for the Sips for the Symphony concert.
Wenbo Yin, saxophone
Classical and jazz saxophonist Dr. Wenbo Yin, versatile and bold in his music-making, is a skillful interpreter of diverse genres. Yin's performances range from being a soloist at Carnegie Hall, ensemble player at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, to concerts with prominent jazz artists.
