The Ukiah Symphony Orchestra Board Welcomes Interim-President Jean Craig

A message from Jean Craig

“I am excited about and looking forward to our online 2020-2021 season, including the Salons with the Symphony concert series, featuring our Ukiah Symphony musicians. In addition, tune into Up Close and Classical, a set of monthly podcasts hosted by our Music Director Phillip Lenberg, in partnership with Symphony of the Redwoods. Join me in extending appreciation and thanks to Phillip and the musicians who have offered to bring sweet music that is so needed in these challenging times.

Thanks for joining us for Salons with the Symphony series and Up Close and Classical podcasts. For more information on these events, please visit us on our website at www.ukiahsymphony.org.”

In Appreciation

After serving nearly three years on the board of the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra, Marta Restrepo and Joe Nemeth stepped down in July 2020.

Marta, who served as Board President of the USO since May 2019, states, “It has been a pleasure to watch the symphony grow in positive ways and to find solutions to the challenges we have faced also with Phillip’s ideas and vision. While Covid-19 has brought great crisis and discomfort to all of us, it is also an opportunity to rethink modalities and methods of sharing classical music with our community and surrounding areas.”

Joe Nemeth became the interim-President in January 2019. He took on the IT and Treasurer responsibilities after his wife Marta became Board President in May of that year. Joe, whose compositions have been performed by the orchestra, states, “It was a pleasure to serve the Symphony. I look forward to seeing the community orchestra reinstated after this COVID-19.”

The board wishes to acknowledge Marta Restrepo and Joe Nemeth for the many ways in which they contributed to the success of the symphony over the past year. We sincerely appreciate their dedication to bringing the best of orchestral music to Ukiah.
